Pilates is a gentle method of muscle strengthening (precise placement, slow movements, deep breathing) which aims to strengthen the deep muscle chains of the body.
The objective of this method is to bring the body back into an ideal alignment, thus creating a strong stability thereby limiting pain and permanent injuries.
The goal of Joseph Pilates is to bring body and mind into one, to find beneficial synergy in search of perfect execution.
This method aims to harmonize the silhouette, bringing greater inner strength. You will therefore rediscover your body in order to better understand it and therefore better control it.
The 6 fundamental principles:
Breathing:
specific to pilates, the belly maintained breathing is lateral and thoracic.
Concentration :
you have to focus entirely on the movement and its execution.
Centering:
all movements must start from the center (belly maintained).
Control :
you have to control the movement, and the associated breathing.
The fluidity :
the exercises are linked slowly and without force.
The precision :
it is necessary to seek the quality of execution of the movement and not the quantity.
